Festival history

„Slavs, look around the world“, a slovak classic says and we, having this spirit within us, had left our home in 1994 for our first competitive performance in a foreign country. The festival in Marcelline, Italy that we had participated in a year after that have charmed us so much, that Susan Andel have brought up an idea to organize a similiar event in Slovakia – our home. The idea did not loose its potency and has started to form up in a dialogue with Ivan Pessel (Pezinok mayor at that time) and Mr. Molnár. They both gave their support and were helpful guides in the process of transforming this idea into reality. We not only wanted to present our singing abroad, we were also eager to bring cultures from different contries into our region. Cultures that would enrich and inspire. That was the main reason why the Ad Una Corda choir members have started to organize this International Choir Festival and invite as colourfull spectrum of choirs as possible – large, chamber, mixed, male, children with vast repertoires from various countries, with different temperaments that predestined the style of their performances. We have been led by their quality and our intuition. At last, all this diversity has blended into common compositions in mutual harmony.
